ORLANDO, Fla. (November 13, 2025) - The Sunshine State Conference announced their 2025 women's soccer awards and honors on Thursday afternoon. Three players selected represented Rollins.
Alayna Townsend was named the Co-Freshman of the Year and also earned first team status as a forward, while
Lexie Cooper and
Emma Griner were each named to the third team.
Townsend, a Cincinnati, Ohio, product, started 12 games and played 846 minutes for the Tars this season, leading the team with six goals and 13 total points. In her second career game, she scored twice in a win over Georgia Southwestern, and had another two-goal effort in a must-win game against Saint Leo on October 29. She also scored against Florida Tech and Eckerd. She's the third Rollins athlete to be named Freshman of the Year in women's soccer and the first since Kathryn O'Brien in 2015.
Cooper, one of the team's two captains, takes home her second career All-SSC nod after an identical spot on the third team in 2024. Cooper appeared in 13 games for Rollins, making 12 starts. She scored three times this year, including a monster goal in the SSC quarterfinal matchup against Eckerd on Monday. Her other two goals against Tiffin and Ohio Dominican were both game winners. Cooper led the team in shots on goal (17) and was third in total shots (27).
Griner, a sophomore, was recognized as the on-field leader of the Tars in 2025. She was one of four Tars to start every game, and played the most minutes (1320) of any non-defender. Griner dished out five assists to lead the team, and also scored the lone Tars' goal in the 1-1 draw against Embry-Riddle on October 25. She was also responsible for the majority of corner and free kicks throughout the season.
