Winter Park, Fla. – Rollins battled with No. 4 Barry inside Warden Arena on Friday night, dropping a hard-fought four-set thriller to the unbeaten Buccaneers (25–22, 21–25, 23–25, 20–25).
The Tars opened toe-to-toe with the nation's fourth-ranked team, leaning on strong defense and timely kills to stay in front. A mid-set surge, fueled by a pair of Marta Tsaneva finishes, gave Rollins an 18–16 edge, and the Tars held off Barry down the stretch to secure the opening frame. The second set mirrored the first with nine ties and five lead changes, including a momentum-shifting kill from Vivian Scuteri that pushed Rollins back in front. But the Bucs answered with a late run of their own to even the match.
The third frame proved the tightest of the night, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Cameron Grange to swing the momentum mid-set. Barry again used a decisive five-point stretch to separate late and move ahead. Rollins came out strong in the fourth, racing to a 6–1 start, but Barry responded with an eight-point swing that flipped the momentum for good, closing out the contest.
Despite the loss, the Tars saw several positives on the stat sheet. Setter Jenna Garza recorded four service aces, including the 100th of her career, marking a milestone moment. Grange and Scuteri shared the match high with 11 kills each, with Scuteri leading Rollins in efficiency at a .348 clip. Rylee Yarborough also earned herself a double-digit kill game, posting 10 on the night. On defense, Sarah Seabrooke posted several highlight-reel digs in the contest, earning 22 in total.
The Tars fall to 11–5 overall and 0–3 in SSC play, and will look to bounce back quickly, returning to Warden Arena on Saturday, Oct. 4, for a 4 p.m. matchup against No. 6 Lynn.
