Lakeland, Fla. – Rollins hit the road Friday night for a Sunshine State Conference matchup at Florida Southern, falling to the Mocs in four sets (25–21, 17–25, 19–25, 20–25).
The opening set saw both teams trading points early before Rollins pulled away late behind a three-point surge. A kill from Marta Tsaneva, a block by Robinson Repass and Vivian Scuteri, and a finish from Cameron Grange capped the run to secure the first set on an impressive .519 hitting clip. Florida Southern responded in the second, capitalizing on a few Rollins miscues to take control and even the match. The third followed a similar back-and-forth pattern before the Mocs strung together a mid-set run to swing the momentum and move ahead, 2–1. In the fourth, Rollins battled back from an early deficit, using a three-point burst sparked by a Grange kill to tie it at 11–11, but Florida Southern closed on a late run to seal the match.
Grange led the Tars offensively with 15 kills, while Tsaneva and Makayla Moran also reached double digits. Moran turned in a strong all-around performance, hitting .304 and leading the team with six total blocks. Setters Jenna Garza and Molly Morris guided the offense with 20-plus assists apiece, while libero Sarah Seabrooke anchored the back row once again, tallying a team-high 15 digs.
With the result, Rollins moves to 11–7 overall and 0–5 in SSC play, while Florida Southern improves to 9–4 (3–2 SSC). The Tars continue their road stretch on Saturday, Oct. 11, with a 4 p.m. matchup at No. 1-ranked Tampa.
