ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (January 15, 2025) - Women's basketball suffered their second straight loss on Wednesday, falling to the Eckerd Tritons 85-38. With the loss, Rollins falls to 7-8, 2-6 SSC while Eckerd improves to 11-4, 6-3 SSC.
Rollins fell behind early in the first, managing just ten points against the Tritons' 22. A three from
Aaliyah Irizarry-Perez and a conversion from
Tara Murray had the Tars within six at 16-10 with three minutes to go, but Eckerd closed out with a 6-0 run.
The second quarter was tough for both sides, as Eckerd outscored the Tars 12-5. Rollins shot 2-13 in the period, and trailed 34-15 at the break.
Eckerd continued their hot shooting in the second half and came away with the win.
Murray and Irizarry-Perez tied for the team lead with seven points and four rebounds each for the Tars.
Next up for the Tars is a home game against Embry-Riddle on Saturday, January 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
