WINTER PARK, Fla. (Sept. 28, 2024) – The Rollins volleyball team fell to visiting Embry-Riddle in three sets on Saturday, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21. The Tars drop to 9-5 overall, 0-3 in SSC matches, while the Eagles improve to 9-2, 2-0 in conference play.
Lana Gerard led Rollins with 10 kills while
Jadyn Troutman tallied six kills and two blocks.
Adriana Lopez had a match-high 14 digs and
Jenna Garza (15 assists) and
Molly Morris (7 assists) split the setting duties for the Blue and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- ERAU took an early 7-3 lead before the Tars roared back with four straight points to get within one at 10-9.
- The Eagles maintained a slim lead until a late 4-0 run pushed it to 21-15 and the visitors held on for a 25-19 win.
Set Two
- Set two saw Embry-Riddle jump in front 7-1, but Rollins quickly answered with a 6-1 spurt to cut the deficit to 8-7.
- ERAU scored the next four points to go up 12-7, and the visitors held that lead before creating separation late in the frame, closing it out on an 8-2 run to win it, 25-16.
Set Three
- In the third frame, the Tars held a one-point lead on four separate occasions, including as late as 16-15.
- Embry-Riddle took five of the next six points to retake the lead, 20-17, and the Eagles would go on to clinch the sweep with a 25-21 victory.
UP NEXT:
The Tars will hit the road next weekend for a pair of conference matches, beginning with a contest at top-ranked Tampa on Friday, October 4 at 7 p.m.
