WINTER PARK, Fla. (Sept. 27, 2024) – The Rollins volleyball team came up short on Friday night, falling in three sets to visiting Nova Southeastern, 25-13, 25-20, 25-15. The Tars are now 9-4 on the year, 0-2 in SSC play, while the Sharks go to 10-1 overall, 1-0 in conference matches.
Lana Gerard led Rollins with seven kills and added nine digs, while
Makayla Moran and
Jadyn Troutman both chipped in with five kills.
Adriana Lopez had a team-high 10 digs and
Molly Morris (10 assists) and
Jenna Garza (9 assists) shared the setting duties for the Blue and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- NSU jumped out to an early 5-2 lead and then used an 8-1 burst to push the margin to 17-7.
- The Sharks would go on to win the opening set, 25-13.
Set Two
- Set two saw the Tars take a 4-3 lead early on only to have Nova Southeastern go on an 11-3 run to go up 14-7.
- The Blue and Gold got back to within three points at 21-18, but NSU was able to hang on for a 25-20 victory.
Set Three
- In the third frame, the visitors pulled in front 13-8 and used a late 6-0 run to build a double-digit lead (22-12), as the Sharks clinched the sweep with a 25-15 win.
UP NEXT:
The Tars will return to the court tomorrow to host Embry-Riddle in another SSC match, with first serve set for 4 p.m.
