Tars Picked Eighth in SSC Volleyball Preseason Poll

Tampa expected to win fourth consecutive conference title

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Aug. 13, 2024) - The Sunshine State Conference released the results of the 2024 Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, with the Tars garnering 39 points to sit in eighth place in the poll. Tampa earned 100 points and 10 first-place votes, making the Spartans the favorites to capture the league crown for the fourth straight season.
 
Lynn lands in second with 88 points, while Nova Southeastern takes third with 72 points and the final first-place vote. Embry-Riddle sits alone in fourth at 70 points, while Florida Southern rounds out the Top-5 after receiving 65 points from league coaches. Eckerd holds the middle position in the poll with 58 points, followed by Barry with 52 points in seventh. Rollins (39 points), Palm Beach Atlantic (28 points), Florida Tech (17 points), and Saint Leo (16 points) hold the final four positions in the ranking.

The Tars open the 2024 season on September 6 at the Valdosta State Tournament. Rollins will take on Winston-Salem State and Erskie on Friday, Sept. 6, before squaring off with Valdosta State and Converse on Saturday, Sept. 7. After traveling to Buffalo, New York to take part in the D'Youville Tournament the following weekend, the Tars return home to host the Rollins Invitational September 20-21, with a contest against Millersville on Friday, Sept. 20, and contests against Southern Connecticut State and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, Sept. 21.
