BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 15, 2024) - Softball scored a SSC road win at Lynn on Friday afternoon, defeating the Fighting Knights 6-0. The Tars move to 21-6 on the year, and 6-4 in SSC play.
Rollins scored quickly in the top of the first when
Sarah Young singled home
Grace Germer. They would add two more runs in the second courtesy of a
Taylor Waters single and a groundout RBI from
Taylor Hartman.
After starter
Ashley Worrell struck out the side in the bottom half, another run was scored by the Tars in the third when Kaehli Zahradnik singled, stole second, stole third, and scored on a throwing error to make it 4-0.
In the top of the fifth, freshman
Maddie Degnan launched the first home run of her career, a solo shot, to put Rollins up 5-0. The scoring would wrap in the seventh on a Germer double that plated
Claire Long.
Worrell added two more strikeouts in the seventh to wrap up the complete game shutout. Her final line read seven innings, three hits, no runs and eight strikeouts.
Rollins recorded twelve hits in the game, with three coming from the bat of
Claire Long. She was also hit by a pitch, putting her on base four times in the game. Germer had two runs and one RBI to help.
The two teams will play in a doubleheader on Saturday to wrap up the series. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
