Tars Sweep Series Against Lynn

Rollins won both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 16, 2024) - Softball earned their second SSC series sweep of the season, taking both sides of a doubleheader on Saturday against Lynn. The Tars now stand at 23-6 overall, with an 8-4 record in the SSC.

Game One
Rollins 2, Lynn 1

The first game was a low scoring affair. Rollins got on the board in the second thanks to a fielding error that allowed Ashley Worrell to reach base. She moved to third after a pair of singles, and was brought home on a Taylor Hartman sac fly.

Lynn was quick to respond, using a double, sac bunt, and a fielder's choice to knot the score at one.

Emily MacMullen shut down the Knights from there, including striking out the side in the fourth inning.

Worrell came through again in the sixth inning, blasting a solo home run to put the Tars ahead.

Keivana Durand was called on to pitch the sixth and seventh, which she did flawlessly to earn the save.

Game Two
Rollins 3, Lynn 0

The back end of the day was a true pitcher's duel as Worrell and Madison Prickett were shutting down both offenses.

The first run of the game came in the fifth. Kaeli Zahradnik led off with a single and stole second base. Taylor Hartman then sent a ball up the middle that scored Zahradnik.

Rollins padded their lead in the sixth after Worrell walked and Sarah Young doubled to put two on. Claire Long stepped up and brought both runners in with a base hit, making the final of 3-0.

The run support was more than enough for Worrell who would end up going the distance. Her final line read seven innings, two hits, zero runs, two walks and eight strikeouts.

Hartman was 3-3 at the plate to lead the offense.

The Tars will have one more non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday before closing out the rest of the year with SSC matchups. On Wednesday, March 20, Rollins will welcome West Georgia to town. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
