WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2024) - Men's tennis picked up one more win before a much needed break, defeating D-III Wisconsin-Superior 6-1 on Friday. The Tars now stand at 12-1 on the year.
Rollins won doubles with a combined score of 18-2. Court two was the first to finish with a 6-0 sweep from
Nico de Giacomo/
Richard Stoiberer. That was followed by
Phillip McMurray/
Moritz Stenzer cruising to a 6-1 win on number three. On the featured court,
Guillermo Castaneda/
Charlie Putrino were also victorious by a 6-1 final.
McMurray carried his success to singles play were he went a perfect 6-0, 6-0 on court six for the second point of the day. His doubles mate Stenzer then won as well, picking up a 6-2, 6-0 win on five. .Putrino followed suit with a 6-0, 6-2 effort on four, locking up the overall match for Rollins.
Stoiberer claimed a victory on two, winning 6-1, 6-0. Castaneda then wrapped up play with a 6-0, 6-1 win on three.
Luke Quaynor and Ren Kurachi were locked in to a competitive fight on one, but Quaynor had to bow out due to injury following the first set, giving Kurachi and the Yellowjackets a point in the match.

"Very proud of the guys coming through 13 matches in 28 days at 12-1," said head coach
Jay Friedman. "Everybody knows the strength of the Sunshine State Conference, so to be able to jump out the first half of the season and set this tone is really impressive. It's a full team effort and the fun is still ahead."
That fun will pick up on Saturday March 23rd when the Tars travel to West Palm Beach to face the Sailfish of PBA. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
