Tars Soar Past Falcons

Rollins defeated Bentley 7-1 on Saturday afternoon

LONGWOOD, Fla. (February 10, 2024) - The Rollins Tars bounced back from their morning loss with a convincing win against the Bentley Falcons, 7-1, on Saturday. The Tars now stand at 3-1 on the season.

Innings one through four were a pitcher's duel between Emily MacMullen and Riley Piromalli as the two of them combined to allow just one hit. However, Rollins was able to break through in the fifth.

Hits from Hayley Lazo and Taylor Hartman as well as a fielder's choice would load the bases with one out. Jaden Walker delivered a single to the right side to take the zero off the board for Rollins. Grace Germer followed with a double to left-center, making the score 5-0.

Bentley staged a small rally in the bottom half with three singles. They scored one run, but Taylor Waters delivered a strike to the catcher from centerfield for the inning ending putout on the second Falcon baserunner.

After a quiet sixth, Rollins added two more runs on a double steal and a Brie Michelli RBI double to make the final of 7-0.

Germer led the offense with two hits, two runs, and two RBI from the leadoff spot. Walker matched her with two RBI as well. MacMullen took home the win with 4.2 innings of work in the circle. Reese Twiggs finished the final 2.1 innings, allowing zero runs and only one hit.

The Tars will begin SSC play next weekend when they play at home for the first time this season. On Friday, February 16, the #18 Saint Leo Lions will come to town. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
