Tars Dominate Falcons on Sunday

Rollins defeated Bentey 9-1 in five innings on Sunday

LONGWOOD, Fla. (February 11, 2024) - Softball picked up their fourth win in five games on Sunday morning with a convincing 9-1 win over the Bentley Falcons.

Things started early for Rollins when Grace Germer led off with a single, and came around to score on a pop out to first. Bella Bertorelli was up three batters later, and delivered a single through the left side to bring in Hayley Lazo, making it 2-0.

The Tars broke the game open in the second. Sarah Young and Jaden Walker each singled, followed by a walk to Germer to load the bases. Lazo lined a ball into center to score Young, followed by a sac fly from Brie Michelli that plated Walker. Ashley Worrell was next up, and punched a ball to the left side that was able to bring in Lazo and Germer to make it 6-0.

After a scoreless third, Rollins was at it again in the fourth. Claire Long led off by being hit by a pitch, and stole second and third. She would score on  fielding error two batters later. Jaden Walker then came through once more with a single to left that scored both Chloe Bauer and Emily Witt ot make it 9-0.

Bentley did push one unearned run across in the fifth, but it would not be enough as the game was called due to mercy rule at 9-1.

Walker and Worrell each had two RBI in the game, while Germer and Lazo each scored two times. Keivana Durand grabbed the win on the mound with four innings of work, scatering a pair of hits, walking one and striking out two.
