JACKSON, Tenn. (November 26, 2024) – The 2024 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Men's Soccer All-South Region Teams were announced Tuesday, as voted on by sports information directors from schools representing the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Among the honorees were two members of Rollins men's soccer, brothers Jorge and
Pedro Lameiras, who were both named to the first-team.
Jorge put together a banner year as the top striker not only on Rollins, but in the entire SSC. He led the conference in goals, shots, shots on goal and points. The senior tallied eleven goals and three assists in his 14 games, totaling 25 points. Jorge posted at least one goal or assist in nine matches, including four games ... Lander, Eckerd, Embry-Riddle, and Palm Beach Atlantic ... with two goals. His effort against the Sailfish came in the first-round of the SSC tournament, helping the Tars advance to the semifinals. His efforts led to SSC coaches voting him the Offensive Player of the Year.
This is the second time Jorge has earned All-Region accolades following his first team selection in 2023.
His younger brother Pedro, a junior, had just as much impact for Rollins. Pedro was the only non-goalie to start 16 games, and his affect on the Tar offense was immense. Pedro found the net six times, and also racked up a conference-best ten assists. The highlight of the season for the Tars came at home against Eckerd on October 16 when Lameiras dished out five assists in the blowout win. He also displayed impeccable ball control, scoring directly on three free kicks this season. Lameiras was a second team All-SSC selection this year.
Lewis Matton of Mississippi College was named the Player of the Year. A total of ten players from the SSC were selected, including five from Lynn, three from Florida Tech, and the brothers from Rollins.
