WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 14, 2025) - Men's soccer bounced back nicely on Sunday morning, dispatching the Spring Hill Badgers by a score of 4-0. The win moves the tars to 2-1-1 on the year, while the Badgers fall to 0-2-0.
Whether it was the early morning start, or a patient strategy, there was not much to report for the first forty minutes of the game. It took twelve minutes for teh first shot to be taken, and it was the only one on record until the 41st minute.
Working off an aggressive attack, the Tars showed tremendous ball movement when
Zico Groenveld fed a cutting
Nick Memmelaar in the box. The sophomore immediately delivered a soft touch to
Diego Barcelos, who was able to blow his shot past Carlos Vargas to make it 1-0, the halftime score.
The pace of play changed drastically in the second half as Rollins made a point to control tempo and possession. Their first strike came about ten minutes in when
Yousef Shakweer collected a loose ball just outside the box and ripped a laser into the far corner to make it 2-0.
Moments later, the Tars defense forced a turnover, and were on the attack once more. This time, it was freshman
Tolu Junaid drawing the defense to him before passing outside to a wide open
Kaden Foreman. The senior captain delivered one of his patented long strikes, easily catching the inside corner for his first of the year.
The final blow came five minutes later. Groenveld fired a beautiful cross into the box that was collected by Junaid. He unselfishly touched it to Barcelos, who once again found open space and secured his second brace of the match to make the final of 4-0.
Spring Hill made a goalie switch following the goal, and newcomer Isa Murati played magnificently, saving five shots in his limited time.
This game was all Rollins. They outshot the Badgers 19-4, putting twelve on target while allowing zero shots on goal for Spring Hill. They also won the corner kick battle 8-1.
Next up for Rollins is a road game at Embry-Riddle on Wednesday, September 17. Kickoff is schedule for 6:00 pm.
