DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 28, 2024) - Women's tennis took part in the inaugural Embry-Riddle Hidden Duals over the weekend, competing against a range of opponents from Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Tampa, Eastern Florida State, and Hillsborough Community College. All told, the Tars were victorious in 10 singles and four doubles matches.
In singles action,
Amina Abdulloeva earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Noah Rojas Hernandez (HCC) and a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Thais Miltmeier (EFSC).
Nancy Liu picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jasiczek Malgorzata (HCC), as well as a 6-2, 6-0 win against Maria Gento (EFSC).
Polina Ligay knocked off Johanna Marten (HCC), 6-4, 5-7, 11-9, and followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nayara Alvarez (EFSC).
Milla Falster earned a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Sara Ladino (EFSC) and a 6-2, 6-3 win over Laura Jipescu (FC).
Stella Fruijtier downed Dasha Moskalenko (EFSC) 6-4, 6-1 and Kattie Valdes (FC) 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Taibi and Falster defeated Malgorzata/Irina Furtuna (HCC) 6-2; Falster then teamed up with Ligay to knock off Ladino/Miltmeier (EFSC) 6-3. Taibi and Sydney Eckstean swept Alvaraz/Moskalenko (EFSC) 6-0, while Abdulloeva and Fruijtier picked up a 6-3 win over Sofia Balsera and Valdes (FC).
Rollins will now have a few months to prepare for the spring season, which kicks off with a home match against Edward Waters on February 5 at 2 p.m. That match is set to be played at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
