Rollins Swept by Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Oct. 19, 2024) – The Rollins volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at No. 18 Lynn on Saturday, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19. With the loss, the Tars dropped to 11-8 overall, 2-6 in SSC play, while the Fighting Knights improved to 15-1, 5-1 in conference matches.
 
Lana Gerard led the Tars with seven kills while Makayla Moran had a match-best five blocks (one solo). Natalie Horsley tallied a team-leading 21 assists and tied with Adriana Lopez for a team-high seven digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
  • Rollins took a quick 4-1 lead in the opening frame, but Lynn quickly rattled off five straight points to go up 7-5.
  • A 3-0 spurt midway through the set pushed the Tars back in front, 16-15, but the Fighting Knights closed out the frame on a 10-3 rally to win it, 25-19.
Set Two
  • Set two saw Lynn score the first eight points and never look back, taking the set 25-14 to go up 2-0 in the match.
Set Three
  • In the third set, the Fighting Knights took an early 5-2 lead, and a 4-0 spurt increased their advantage to 12-7.
  • Back-to-back service aces from Lopez brought the Blue and Gold back to within two points at 13-11, but a few minutes later Lynn had another 4-0 burst to build its lead to 20-14.
  • The Fighting Knights ended the match by winning four of the final five points to take the third set, 25-19, completing the 3-0 sweep.
 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will return to the court on Tuesday, October 22, when they travel to Daytona Beach to face Embry-Riddle in a 7 p.m. match.
