HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- The first set was tight until a 9-2 burst by the Tars turned a 13-12 deficit into a 21-14 lead.
- Rollins didn't allow Lynn to score a point on serve the rest of the way, cruising to a 25-17 opening set win.
Set Two
- Set two saw neither side able to build an advantage larger than three points throughout the entire frame, with 16 ties and eight lead changes occurring during the action.
- The longest run of the set came when Lynn scored four straight points to go up 16-14.
- Rollins immediately responded with three consecutive points to regain the lad, 17-16.
- The Fighting Knights fought back to go ahead 24-23 on a block, but the Tars weren't rattled, getting a kill from Troutman and back-to-back kills from Gerard to close out the set on a 3-0 spurt, winning the frame, 26-24.
Set Three
- Like the previous set, set three was competitive throughout, with the largest lead at any point being four points.
- A kill by Diaz gave the Tars the aforementioned four-point advantage at 16-12, but Lynn rallied with three straight points to trim the deficit to just one at 16-15.
- Rollins held strong, maintaining a lead, however slim, for the remainder of the set.
- The Fighting Knights got within a point five more times, including 22-21, 23-22, and 24-23, but each time the Tars had an answer that prevented Lynn from drawing even.
- Diaz put the nail in the coffin with her 15th kill, securing the 25-23 win in the third set to complete the 3-0 sweep.
