MELBOURNE, Fla. (Aug. 16, 2023) - The Sunshine State Conference released the results of the 2023 Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, with the Tars garnering 14 points to sit in 11th place in the poll. Tampa earned 96 points and seven first-place votes, making the Spartans the favorites to capture the league crown for the third straight season.
Barry falls just behind Tampa with 94 points and the final four first-place votes. Lynn sits alone in third at 77 points, followed by Nova Southeastern with 71 points. Eckerd rounds out the top five after receiving 67 points from league coaches.
Embry-Riddle and Florida Southern tied for the middle position in the poll with 51 points. Palm Beach Atlantic (40 points), Saint Leo (24 points), Florida Tech (20 points), and Rollins (14 points) hold the final four positions in the ranking.
The Tars open the 2023 season next week at the PSAC East Kickoff Tournament. Rollins will take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Millersville on Friday, Sept. 1, before squaring off with West Chester and Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Sept. 2. The following weekend sees the Tars host the Rollins Invitational, with match-ups against Chadron State and Tusculum on Friday, Sept. 8, and contests against Bluefield State and Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, Sept. 9.
