Tars Capture Sixth Straight Win

Rollins defeated Barry 7-2 on Sunday afternoon

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (March 26, 2023) - Rollins completed their SSC series sweep of the Barry Buccaneers, earning their sixth straight win with a 7-2 victory. Rollins now stands at 23-11 on the year, with a 7-8 record in SSC play.

For the third straight game, Ashely Troutman led off with a single in the top fo the first. After moving to second on a wild pitch, she would then come around to score when a throwing error went into the outfield off a Grace Germer bunt. After Germer then stole second, she was brought in on an errant throw from shortstop during Brie Michelli's at bat.

Barry cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first when a wild pitch brought in a run. The Bucs would then tie things up in the second with some small ball, bringing home Princess Bailey on a bunt.

The Tars responded in the third when a Morgan Lebeda sac fly plated Claire Long to make it 3-2. A fourth run came across for Rollins in the fourth when Michelli drove in Troutman with a single through the left side of the infield.

Taylor Hartman, who came on in relief in the second inning, settled in and was dealing from the circle. She did not allow a run in innings three through six. Meanwhile, in the top of the sixth, the Tars added three more runs on another Michelli RBI base hit, a Barry throwing error, and Long sac fly.

After Barry threatened in their final at bat, leading off with two singles, Emily MacMullen came in to relieve Hartman. She did so flawlessly, striking out two and inducing a groundout to wrap things up.

Troutman led the offense with three hits in four at bats. She stole three bases and scored three times. Michelli added a pair of hits and two RBI. Hartman earned her sixth win of the year with 5.2 innings of one (unearned) run ball with five strikeouts.

A massive series with the Tampa Spartans is next up for the Tars. They will host the #3 ranked Spartans with a single game on Friday, March 31 at 6:00 PM and a doubleheader on Saturday April 1 that starts at noon.
