WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 6, 2023) - Rollins suffered a quarterfinal loss to the #4 seed Eckerd Tritons on Monday night in Winter Park. The Tars now stand at 9-6-3, while Eckerd improves to 9-6-2.
At the ten-minute mark, Eckerd put themselves on the board when Brooke Bisko handled a pass from Abby Knipp, and punched it past a diving
Lauren Mehos in goal.
The remainder fo the first half was heavy on contact as the two teams got physical with each other. Then, with less than a minute to go in the period, Eckerd successfully converted on a corner kick. A header from Aisling Spillane went towards the goal where Kendall Drummond acrobatically chipped it in with her right foot to put the Tritons up 2-0.
The ball stayed on the Tritons side of the field for almost the entire second half as Rollins was relentless in their comeback attempt. The Tars took six shots in the second half, all of which either missed the goal or were saved. The biggest chance came on penalty kick, but
Kayla Park's effort was stonewalled by Cadence Talbert.
Now the Tars have to wait until the conclusion of conference tournaments around the country to see if they will be selected for the NCAA championship as an at-large. Eckerd moves on to play #1 seed Florida Tech on Thursday.
