WINTER PARK, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2023) – The Rollins volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) defeat to third-ranked Tampa on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Tars to 8-8 on the year, 3-5 in SSC play. With the win, the Spartans go to 15-0, 9-0 in conference matches.
Emily Diaz led the Tars with seven kills while
Natalie Horsley had a team-high 25 assists and four blocks (one solo).
Adriana Lopez picked up a team-leading eight digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
- Tampa took a 4-1 lead early and used a 6-1 run to go up 13-6.
- A 9-3 burst by the Spartans gave them a 22-13 lead, and they closed out the set with a 25-17 victory.
Set Two
- Set two saw the Spartans score the first six points, but the Tars rallied to get within two at 10-8.
- A 6-1 spurt pushed the Tampa lead back up to 17-10, and a set-closing 6-2 run gave the visitors a 25-15 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set Three
- Tampa got the first three points in the third, and before long UT was up 16-7.
- Rollins went on a 5-2 run late, but the Spartans were able to hang on for a 25-18 win to sweep the match.

The Tars will wrap up their five-match homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 10, when they host Florida Tech at 7 p.m.
