SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 12, 2022) – The 16th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team came up short in its regular season finale at Saint Leo on Tuesday, falling to the No. 3 Lions, 6-1. With the loss, the Tars finish the regular season at 10-9 overall, 3-6 in SSC play, while Saint Leo improves to 16-2, 7-2 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The Lions grabbed the doubles point, sweeping all three matches.
- 12th-ranked Georgina Groth and Alexandra Borg put up a good fight on court one against No. 25 Nina Furmaniak and Alina Fedulova, but ultimately dropped the match, 7-5.
- Kaitlynn Groves and Erin Yaroshuk pushed Celina Ermann and Maria Valverde Soler to a tiebreak on court three, falling 7-6 (6).
Singles
- 26th-ranked Marta Vicens Miquel defeated No. 32 Groth on court one, 6-0, 6-0, and 25th-ranked Furmaniak downed Borg on court two, 6-3, 6-1.
- Groves was able to earn Rollins' only point of the match, defeating Ermann 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 on court three.
- The Lions claimed the other three singles matches as well, although Polina Vlasova nearly pulled it out against Lavinia Lancellotti on court four, eventually losing by a score of 1-6, 6-2, 12-10.
