WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4, 2022) – The 16th-ranked Rollins baseball team slugged 24 hits, eight of which were for extra bases including four home runs, in a 20-3 win over Assumption on Friday afternoon. The win extends the Tars' winning streak to 12 straight games and puts their season mark at 13-2, while the Greyhounds drop to 3-4.
12 Tars recorded at least one hit, 10 drove in at least one run, and 13 scored at least one run.
Jeslyn Whitehead went 4-for-5 with a stolen base, a run scored, and two RBIs while
Adams Torres was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
Timothy Mira finished 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs, and
Joey Rubin was 3-for-6 with a pair of RBIs.
Jaylyn Whitehead (4-0) won his fourth straight start, going six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Nick Gaglioti led the Greyhounds offensively, going 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and all three runs scored. Jack Choate (0-1) took the loss, giving up six runs on five hits in two innings, walking two and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Second Inning
- Cody Smith singled home Gaglioti with one out in the top of the second to give Assumption a brief 1-0 lead.
- The Tars answered by sending all nine men to the plate in the second inning, scoring six times.
- Nick Santucci led off by reaching on a dropped third strike and took second on a failed pickoff attempt.
- After Cameron Meehan was hit by a pitch, Aidan Healy drew a walk to load the bases.
- Mira then singled to score Santucci and Meehan to give Rollins a 2-1 lead.
- Rubin followed with a single that plated Healy to make it 3-1.
- With Mira on third, Rubin got picked off, but stayed in a rundown long enough for Mira to score.
- Chase Achuff then drew a walk and came home to score on a Torres two-run home run, increasing the lead to 6-1.
Third Inning
- Rollins batted around in the third, sending 12 men to bat in the inning.
- After Parker Smith was hit by a pitch, Meehan drilled a home run to left to make it an 8-1 game.
- Rubin knocked in Healy with an RBI groundout, and Achuff followed with an RBI single to make it 10-1.
- Jeslyn Whitehead brought home Torres and Achuff with a two-out RBI single, building the lead to 12-1.
Fourth Inning
- The Greyhounds got one back in the fourth on the first of Gaglioti's two solo homers.

Sixth Inning
- Drew Howard hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Mira to score to make it 14-2.
Seventh Inning
- Gaglioti hit his second home run of the game to bring the score to 14-3.
- Kyle Bullock answered with a two-run home run in the bottom half, putting the Tars up 16-3.
Eighth Inning
- Santucci plated Howard with an RBI groundout and Coleman blasted a three-run home run down the right field line to increase the margin to 20-3, which would prove to be the final score.
