WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2022) – A strong pitching performance from
Justin Alintoff and some timely hitting helped the 16th-ranked Rollins baseball team win its 13th consecutive game on Saturday, defeating Bentley, 5-1. The win puts Rollins at 14-2 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 2-6.
Nick Santucci finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run while
Joey Rubin was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and two runs scored.
Chase Achuff finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored, and
Adams Torres was 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
Alintoff (4-0) went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
Eddy Beauregard was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Falcons. Jackson Walonis, Joe Boushell, and Joe Cacciatore each collected one hit for Bentley.
Marc Cedrone (0-1) took the loss, surrendering five runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings, walking one and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Second Inning
- Santucci opened the scoring with a solo home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the second.
Third Inning
- Rubin singled with one out and came home to score on Achuff's double two pitches later, making it 2-0 Tars.
Fourth Inning
- Cameron Meehan drew a two-out walk and stole second before Ryan Coleman delivered a two-out RBI double to score Meehan with the third run of the game.
Seventh Inning
- Rubin got a rally going with two outs, tripling to left-center.
- Achuff followed with a double to score Rubin, and Torres followed that with a triple that scored Achuff, pushing the lead to 5-0.
Ninth Inning
- Bentley scored its lone run on a two-out RBI double from Beauregard before Austin Long got the final out to secure the 5-1 win.
