WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 26, 2022) – The 34th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team saw its eight-match win streak come to an end on Saturday with a 6-1 loss at the hands of 18th-ranked Tampa. The loss drops the Tars to 8-5 overall, 2-2 in conference play, while the Spartans improve to 11-4, 4-2 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The Spartans made quick work at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the point, though 11th-ranked Alexandra Borg and Georgina Groth were able to earn a 6-0 win over 25th-ranked Maria Khomchenko and Anine Wilberg.
Singles
- Groth tied things up with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat of No. 61 Khomchenko on court one.
- Tampa went on to win the rest of the singles matches, though the Tars put up a solid fight in each match.
- Borg pushed No. 22 Maeva Roquebert in both sets, falling 7-5, 7-5 on court two.
- Kaitlynn Groves and Maria McKay both forced third sets in their matches on courts three and five, respectively.
