WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 28, 2022) – The 34th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team got back in the win column in dominant fashion on Monday, handing No. 40 Palm Beach Atlantic a 6-1 defeat. With the win the Tars improve to 9-5, 3-2 in conference, while the Sailfish drop to 6-8, 1-5 in SSC matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- The 11th-ranked tandem of Georgina Groth and Alexandra Borg took the first doubles match over Courtney Page and Verena Weindl 6-1 on court one.
- The Sailfish were able to grab wins in the other two doubles matches to claim the opening point.
Singles
- Groth tied the overall match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Elvira Edstrom on court one, and Kaitlynn Groves put the Tars in front 2-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on court three over Anabelle Robichaud.
- Polina Vlasova took down Alessia Passerini on court four, 6-4, 6-3 to put Rollins one point away from clinching the match.
- Maria McKay provided that clinching point with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Cecilia Peroni on court five.
- Borg defeated Weindl in straight sets on court two, 6-4, 6-4, and Natalia Collado Cordon finished off the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-8 win on court six.
