DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 29, 2022) – The 34th-ranked Rollins women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat at No. 41 Embry-Riddle on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Tars now sit at 9-6 overall, 3-3 in conference, while the Eagles improve to 12-5, 2-3 in SSC matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Doubles
- Embry-Riddle took the doubles point with wins on courts three and two before the 11th-ranked duo of Georgina Groth and Alexandra Borg earned a hard-fought win on court one, downing Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cabrero del Hierro, 7-6 (6).
Singles
- Ninth-ranked Blanco was the first to finish, claiming another point for Embry-Riddle with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Groth on court one.
- The Eagles took the matches on courts six and three next, clinching the match with their fourth point.
- Embry-Riddle won on courts four and two to take a 6-0 lead before Maria McKay battled back to earn Rollins' lone point of the day with a 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 victory over Alessia Tripaldelli on court five.
