Volleyball’s Linnemeyer Awarded Prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Jessika Linnemeyer, a senior on the Rollins volleyball team, was selected to receive a prestigious $10,000 postgraduate scholarship from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the organization announced earlier this month.

Linnemeyer, who will graduate with a B.S. in Biology in May, will begin working towards her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in the fall. A four-year letterwinner at Rollins, Linnemeyer was named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll four times. She also received the NCAA II Athletic Director's Association Academic Achievement Award in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years, in addition to being named to the Rollins College President's List in each semester of her undergraduate career.

The Castle Rock, Colorado native received numerous scholarships throughout her time as an undergraduate student, including the Rollins Deans Scholarship, the Nancy Parker Endowed Scholarship, the Prentice Endowed Scholarship, and the PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship.

Linnemeyer appeared in all 30 matches this season for the Tars, ranking second on the team with 27 service aces and fourth with 165 digs. She reached double-figures in digs four times this season, with Rollins winning three of those four matches, including a 3-1 win against Barry on Oct. 26 where Linnemeyer picked up a season-best 19 digs.

During her time at Rollins, Linnemeyer has become involved on campus beyond the volleyball court and classroom. She has served as a representative of the volleyball team on the Rollins College Leadership Council and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in addition to serving as the Vice President of Operations for SAAC during her senior year. Linnemeyer also worked as a teacher's assistant in the Chemistry department at Rollins, along with tutoring in several Biology courses.

The NCAA awards up to 126 postgraduate scholarships annually. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.

The one-time non-renewable scholarships of $10,000 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter, spring). Each sports season there are 21 scholarships available for men and 21 scholarships available for women for use in an accredited graduate program.
