TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 5, 2022) – The Rollins women's swimming team fell to the second-ranked Tampa Spartans on Saturday by a score of 179-83. The Tars earned a pair of event wins on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Tars swept the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke, led by Katherine Canty's winning time of 2:27.08. Abigayle Wood was second in 2:27.39, with Brooke Postell finishing third in 2:29.87.
- Jill Hughes won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.59, followed by Alonna Clark's runner-up time of 5:14.34.
- Hughes also touched the wall second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:45.86.
- Clark earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.61.
- Wood posted a third-place time of 1:07.64 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Sarah Brown took second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:11.81, with teammate Kassy McCoy right behind her in third in 2:12.69.
- Dylan Beeson placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.48.
- Elizabeth Sander finished third in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.93.
- Brown came back to take second in the 100-yard butterfly in 59.10.

The Tars will return to action at the Panther Invitational hosted by Florida Tech, which is slated for Nov. 18-20 in Melbourne.
