Rollins Falls at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2022) – The Rollins volleyball team fell in three sets at Lynn on Friday night, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17. With the loss, the Tars now stand at 4-12 on the year, 2-6 in SSC matches, while the Fighting Knights improve to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in conference.
 
Lana Gerard and Emma Begley each led the Tars with seven kills, with Gerard adding nine digs and Begley posting a team-high .500 attack percentage. Adriana Lopez had a team-best 11 digs while Natalie Horsley dealt out a team-leading 19 assists.
 
Paige Barash led all players with 12 kills for Lynn, while Nikolija Katanic added seven kills while hitting .417 and Aline Olegario contributed six kills and a match-best four blocks while hitting a match-high .545. Emily Edwards compiled a match-best 29 assists to go along with seven digs and four kills while Marin Black led all players with 12 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
  • The Tars briefly held a 4-3 lead in the opening set, but Lynn rattled off four straight points to go up 7-4 which became part of an 11-2 run that put the home side up 14-6.
  • Rollins won three of the next four points, but the Fighting Knights answered back with a 9-2 run to earn set point at 24-11.
  • Three points later, Lynn clinched the opener, 25-13.
Set Two
  • Rollins used a quick 3-0 run to take an 8-7 lead in set two, but once again, Lynn responded, this time by taking the next three points to go up 10-8.
  • From that point, the Tars were unable to win any points on serve, with the Fighting Knights preventing any multiple-point runs for Rollins.
  • Lynn closed out the frame on an 8-2 run to win it, 25-15.
Set Three
  • The Tars kept things close longer in the third set, using a 4-1 run to tie things up at 11.
  • Lynn then won six straight points and nine of the next 10 to take a commanding 20-12 lead.
  • Rollins flashed a brief 3-1 run late, but the Fighting Knights were able to take the third set, 25-17, completing the 3-0 sweep. 
UP NEXT:
The Tars will be in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow to face Nova Southeastern. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
