HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One
  • The first set was a back-and-forth affair, featuring 12 different ties and five lead changes.
  • The Tars used a 5-0 spurt to jump out to a 16-10 lead in the middle of the set.
  • Florida Tech quickly answered with a 5-0 run of its own to get back to within a point at 16-15.
  • Rollins won three of the next four points to stay out front, but the Panthers then closed out the frame on a 9-3 run to win it, 25-22.
Set Two
  • Set two saw Rollins run out to an early 12-5 lead and never relinquish it.
  • A 4-0 run for Florida Tech cut the deficit to 19-15, but the Tars were able to maintain a comfortable cushion as they won the set, 25-20.
Set Three
  • A 4-0 run for the Panthers turned an 8-8 tie into a 12-8 advantage for the home team in the third set.
  • A 6-0 run built upon that lead, giving Florida Tech an 18-10 lead.
  • The Tars demonstrated their poise and resiliency, going on an 10-2 run to knot things up at 21.
  • Unfortunately for the visitors, Florida Tech recovered to win the final four points, taking the third set, 25-21.
Set Four
  • The fourth set saw the Panthers score six out of seven points to take a commanding 15-8 lead.
  • Rollins was unfazed, scoring five of the next six to get back to within three at 16-13.
  • Though the Panthers maintained a multiple-point cushion for much of the rest of the set, the Tars flashed some late-stage magic by fending off three straight match points to turn a 24-21 deficit into a 24-24 tie.
  • The magic ran out at that point, as Florida Tech got the next two points to clinch the set, 26-24, and with it, the match.
