LAKELAND, Fla. (October 25, 2022) - The Rollins Tars wrapped up their road season with a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Florida Southern Mocs on Tuesday evening. Rollins now sits at 5-7-3 (2-6-1 SSC) while the Mocs, who already clinched the #1 seed for the SSC playoffs, move to 12-1-3 (8-1-1 SSC).
Rollins came out with high energy, controlling the attack in the first twenty-five minutes. The Tars were able to rip off seven shots in that time frame, but only one was counted as on goal. In the 28th minute, Florida Southern was able to get on the board, scoring on a penalty kick from Angelina Coelho.
Southern took the 1-0 lead into the half, and then added to it in the second frame. The Mocs scored in the 58th and 61st minutes to increase their lead to 3-0, which would be the final score.
Rollins had 19 shots in the stat sheet, but only four were on target, and all of them were saved by keeper Jenny Staten.
Michelle Fickett was in goal for the Tars, and recorded one save.
The Tars will wrap up their 2022 season at home on Friday against Barry. The game is a reschedule from earlier in the month, and will kockoff at 3:00 pm. Prior to the game, the senior class will be honored in a special on-field ceremony.
