BOCA RATON (May 5, 2021) – Rollins dropped their final Sunshine State Conference contest of the season, 13-11, at No. 17 Lynn. Rollins falls to 6-3 overall, and 3-3 in conference play. The Fighting Knights improve to 7-1 overall, and 5-1 in SSC action.
Â
Ryan Dunn continued his offensive tear, tallying a game high seven points, coming on four goals and three assists.Â
Finn Jent and Grant Log contributed with multiple scores, each finding the back of the net twice, while
Brandon Carlin added one goal and one assist.Â
Patrick Thomas made eight saves for Rollins.
Â
Davis Diamond highlighted the evening for Lynn, scoring five goals and tallying one assist. Tommy Ruddo scored a pair of goals, and dished out two assists. Dryden Brous won 17-28 faceoffs, picked up 17 groundball, and tallied one assist. Colin Casey made 13 saves in net for Lynn, playing the full 60 minutes.
Â
Lynn tallied 30 seconds into the contest to kick off the scoring, but the Tars leveled quickly with a
Grant Long goal. The teams traded scores as the Fighting Knights took a 2-1 lead, but Rollins answered with
Ryan Dunn's first. Diamond completed his hat trick with back-to-back goals to give Lynn a 4-2 lead. Dunn beat his man from behind the goal to pull Rollins back within one, at 4-3, but Lynn tallied in the final 10 seconds of the quarter to take a two goal lead after one quarter of play.
Â
The Fighting Knights grabbed a commanding lead with four unanswered goals over the first half of the second quarter. Dunn registered a hat trick with a low to high rocket to break the streak.Â
Brandon Carlin dodged the ally to get Rollins a pair of consecutive goals. Lynn interrupted the run, but the Tars recovered to tally two more scores. First was a quick stick off from Long followed by a late goal by
Justin Spencer, which sent the teams to half with the score at 10-7.
Â
Rollins opened the second half scoring with a
Finn Jent overhand rip, off a pass from Dunn. Dunn then assisted a man-up goal for Buell, as the Tars pulled within one, at 10-9. Diamond grew the Lynn lead back to a pair with five minutes left in the third quarter. From that point the defenses and goalies locked in and held the opposing attacks off the board until the whistles sounded.
Â
A diving effort by Dunn pulled Rollins back within one early in the fourth quarter. Jent then brought the scores level, sweeping across the box and firing a shot into the low corner of the goal; the teams headed into the final 10 minutes of the game with the score 11-11. The Fighting Knights regained the lead with just over four minutes remaining in the game, before extending their advantage to two just a minute later. Rollins late pressure was not enough to breakthrough, as the final seconds ticked away, and Rollins dropped their third game of the season.
