MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (April 3, 2021) - The Rollins Tars saw their first action on the court in ten days, traveling to Barry to take on the #2 ranked Buccaneers. Unfortunately, they were not able to manage the upset, falling 6-1.
Barry took the first point of the day in doubles. The Tars actually held a small advantage when
Andrea Brignacca and
Charlie Putrino upset Ignasi Forcano and Tim Buttner 6-3 on court one. However, the Bucs batled back to claim the final two spots with a pair of 6-4 wins on courts two and three.
The Buccaneers clinched the match by winning the next three singles matches on courts two, three, and four. The Tars were able to avoid a sweep thanks to freshman
Efe Comu. Playing against Forcano on court five, Comu was able to earn the first singles win of his collegiate career by defeating the Spaniard 7-6, 6-4. Unfortunately for the Tars, he was the only singles player to come through with a singles win.
The next action for Rollins will be a match at Eckerd, set for Friday April 9 at 2:00 pm. This is a reschedule from Wednesday, March 31 when the two times had to postpone due to health-related reasons.
