Eagles Shoot Down Tars on the Road

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 29, 2020) – Embry-Riddle shot the lights out Wednesday and handed Rollins a 98-81 loss in Daytona Beach. 

The Eagles hit 62 percent from the field and drained 19 three-pointers, including 13 in the first half, to put the Tars into a 21-point hole at halftime. 

Jakobi Bonner led Rollins (10-9, 4-7 SSC) with 22 points. The senior shot 7-of-10 from the field (3-4 three-pointers) and was 5-of-6 at the line to go along with seven rebounds. Kyle Marion added 19 points and five assists. 

Nick Heard hit went 11-of-14 from beyond the arc and scored 35 points to lead Embry-Riddle (14-6, 6-6 SSC). Luka Majstorovic added 17 points and seven rebounds while Romeo Crouch tallied 14 points and 11 assists. 

Embry-Riddle hit five 3-pointers over the first six minutes, but the Tars kept pace as a Bonner triple pulled the Tars to within 15-11. 

Rollins trailed 23-22 after a Hutton Yenor three-pointer at the midway point of the first, but the Tars cooled off as the Eagles stayed hot with ERAU running out to a 48-24 lead with 3:40 left in the half. Embry-Riddle hit seven three-pointers in the span, four from Heard. 

The Tars trailed 51-30 at the half. 

Rollins fought back in the second half and cut the gap to 76-60 after a Bonner three-point play with 7:44 left. Majstorovic then went on a personal 5-0 run for the Eagles to keep the Tars at bay as Rollins would get no closer than 17 the rest of the game. 

Rollins shot 44 percent from the field and hit 13 from beyond the arc while ERAU was 19-of-36 from deep and 62 percent from the field overall. The Tars were outrebounded 34-26.
