BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 15, 2020) – Senior Connor Mckim poured in 25 points and led Rollins to an 80-69 win at Lynn on Wednesday.
The victory snapped the Tars four-game skid and moves them to 9-7 overall, 3-5 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Fighting Knights fall to 7-7, 2-5 SSC.
Mckim went 7-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, and hit all six free throws. Kyle Marion scored a career-high 20 points and Jakobi Bonner netted 11. Brooks Cluxton recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.
Brandon Bornelus scored 23 to pace the Fighting Knights while Christian Peevy netted 18.
Both teams weathered slow starts offensively with the Tars grabbing an 8-3 lead six minutes in. The advantage would be the largest for either team in the half with Lynn coming back to take a 26-25 lead with 2:39 to play in the half.
Mckim drained a long 3-pointer to get Rollins back on top and, after a Lynn score, Hutton Yenor ended the half with a triple to give the Tars a 31-29 lead at the half.
Lynn tied the score on the first possession of the second half. Marion then scored the game's next five points and sparked a 10-0 Tars run to put the visitors up 41-31.
The Fighting Knights got to within eight twice, but the Tars were able to keep their distance and maintained a 54-44 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Rollins put the game away on a 9-0 run with five minutes left, pushing the lead to 67-50. Lynn would get no closer than nine the rest of the way.
