WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4, 2017) - The Tars
started their 12 game home-stand with a convincing, 7-2, win over
the Findlay Oilers on Saturday afternoon. With the win No. 32
Rollins moves over .500 on the year at 3-2. The Oilers fall below
the .500 mark, at 4-5 on the campaign.
The Tars took a two match to one lead after doubles play. Ahmed
Albitar and Daniel
Ferl made quick work of Nicholas Kopylec and Ivaylo Slavov,
winning 8-3 out of the second position. Ziad
Melhaoui and Cody
Gubin also made quick work of their opponents, earning an 8-4
victory.
The Tars took five of the six doubles matches on the day to help
secure their victory. Albitar recorded his second dominant win of
the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Francesco
Racanelli cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kopylec. Melhaoui
controlled Trevor Majdalani to the tune of a 6-3, 6-3 win. Ferl
coasted out of the fifth position, registering a 6-0, 6-4 win, and
Gubin rounded out the wins with a 6-1, 6-2 straight set victory
over Sherwin Miranda.
The second game of the Tars long home stretch begins tomorrow,
Sunday, March 5, at 10 a.m. Rollins will welcome Division I
opponent Valparaiso to the Martin Tennis Complex.
