SET-UP:
The Tars went 1-1 last week to open their 12 game home
stretch, controlling Findlay 7-2, before falling to Division I
Valparaiso 6-1. Rollins continues the stand with three matches
this week, opening with another Division I opponent, Belmont,
before hosting Wayne State and Queens College to the Martin Tennis
Complex.
TRACKING THE TARS:
Senior captain Patrick
Sell continues to lead Rollins, playing exclusively out of the
first singles spot; the senior is 3-2 on the year. Ziad
Melhaoui has amassed a 4-2 singles record, playing out of the
third, fourth and sixth positions. Sami
Kirberg picked up the Tars only win against Valparaiso, moving
his singles record to 2-2, going 1-0 in both the third and fourth
position.
The Tars experimented with their doubles partnerships last week,
and have now used seven different pairings in team matches.
Melhaoui and Francesco
Racanelli continue to pace the Tars, earning a 3-1 record,
playing out of both the second and third positions.
TRACKING THE BRUINS:
Belmont won four of their first five matches on the year,
but have hit a skid recently and come to Winter Park winning just
one of their last seven matches.
Cedric Dujacquier has played all of the first position matches
for the Bruins on the season, amassing a 3-9 record. Kak Kahn has
earned a 6-5 record on the year, playing primarily out of the
fourth spot. Bruno Russo is 6-4, playing from the fourth, fifth
and sixth positions.
The Bruins compete better in the double matches where their
season record sits at 17-13. Dujacquier and Hendrik Inno have
earned a 7-4 record in the first position, and have won three
matches in a row heading into their showdown in Winter
Park.
TRACKING THE WARRIORS:
Wayne State has started the season 1-4, picking up their
only victory against Lawrence Tech. The Warriors will face off
against Saint Anselm and Lee before taking on the Tars.
Wayne State hase amassed an 8-16 record in singles play through
their first five matches. Mats Westkamp is 1-3 out of the first
position for the Warriors in dual meets. Harvey Reed sits at .500,
2-2, the best singles record on the squad playing out of the fifth
and sixth positions.
The Warriors are 4-7 in doubles play in this year's dual meets.
Westkamp and Griffin Mertz are 2-2 on the year, playing out of the
second and third spots.
TRACKING THE KNIGHTS:
Queens College was tabbed second in the East Coast
Conference Preseason Poll, and opened their spring slate with an
8-1 victory over Adelphi. The Knights currently sit second in the
east regional standings.
Sharvil Navghre, the reigning ECC Player of the Week, gets most
of the play out of the first position for the Knights. The senior
is ranked as the No. 5 player in the east region. Lucas Martinez,
Roman Laga, and Gabriel Mendez come in at No. 12, No. 15, and No.
18 in the region respectively.
The Knights swept doubles action against Adelphi. Navghre and
Laga combined in the first position. Richard Sec and Cosme Jubera
played out of the number two spot, and Fredrico Toscano paired with
Camilo Arias to play in the third position.

The Tars procession of nonconference opponents continues
next week when New Jersey Institute of Technology, Bluefield State,
Alabama-Huntsville, and St. Mary's all come to visit the Martin
Tennis Complex.
