WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2017) - The Tars
handed Bluefield State their first loss of the season by a score of
7-2. The win improves the Tars record to 6-5 on the season, while
Bluefield State dropped to 7-1.
The Tars swept previously undefeated Bluefield State in the
doubles competition. Ahmed
Albitar and Daniel
Ferl led off for the Tars in the first position, and won by a
score of 8-3. Patrick
Sell and Cody
Gubin won out of the second position, defeating the Atlantic
region's top pair of Anthony Braem and Alexandr Rudenco by a score
of 8-6. Sami
Kirberg and Ziad
Melhaoui, won out of the third position, by the same score of
8-6, allowing the Tars to complete the sweep.
In the singles matchups, Francesco Racanella's beat Bluefield
State's Braem 6-4, 6-2, gaining Rollins the point in the second
position. Rollins would win at positions three, four, and six
behind three set victories from Albitar, Melhaoui, and Gubin.
The Tars return to the court tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15, when
they will face off against Alabama-Huntsville. First serve is set
to take place at 2 p.m.
