WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 17, 2017) - Rollins
could not overcome No. 23 St. Mary's (TX), falling to the Rattlers
by a score of 7-2 on Friday afternoon. With the loss Rollins falls
to 7-6 on the year. St. Mary's improves to 7-5 with the
victory.
The Rattlers swept the doubles matches. St. Mary's, from the
south central region, boasts the No. 2 doubles pair in the region,
who won out of the first spot, and the No. 7 team, who was
victorious in the second position.
The Tars won a pair of singles matches in the contest. Ahmed
Albitar easily defeated Jose Antelo 6-2, 6-2, and Cody
Gubin bested Bojan Popovic 6-3, 6-2. Playing out of the first
position, Patrick
Sell gave the nation's No. 41 player all he could handle,
falling 7-6 (8-7), 6-7 (4-7), 10-0 in a three set marathon. Francesco
Racanelli also pushed his opponent, the south central's No. 6
player, Jeremiah Gonzalez, to the limit, falling 7-5, 6-7 (5-7),
10-6.
The Tars will remain at home, hosting, Sunshine State Conference
provisional member, No. 10 Embry-Riddle to Winter Park next
Wednesday, March 29. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
