NOTES: The third-ranked Rollins women's
lacrosse team enters into their final game of their regular season
with a record of 13-1, and 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference
action. However, their matchup on Thursday evening will be no cake
walk as the Tars are set to host No. 6 Florida Southern, who boast
a record of 13-3 and 3-0 in SSC play. Despite national rankings,
the Mocs most recently checked in at No. 1 on the first NCAA
Regional Poll of the season on April 20, while the Tars earned a
nod at No. 2. The team to claim the win on Thursday evening will
earn the title as the 2016 SSC Regular Season Conference Champions.

ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Entering into their last
game of the regular season, the third-ranked Rollins women's
lacrosse team find themselves facing one of their toughest
opponents yet this season as they welcome No. 6 Florida Southern to
Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field on Thursday
evening.
Thursday's clash holds not only national, but regional as well
as conference implications for the Tars, who checked in at No. 3 on
the latest IWLCA DII Poll this past week. While the Tars earned
the nod at third, Florida Southern came in at No. 6 in the national
rankings this week. However, in the first NCAA Regional Rankings
of the season, released Wednesday, Florida Southern checked in at
No. 1, while the Tars earned the second slot. With both teams
entering into Thursday night's SSC showdown with strong overall
records, as well as with the SSC Regular Season Championship on the
line, it's anybody's game as both teams are primed and ready to
earn the victory.
In their most recent contest, the Tars picked up their third SSC
victory of the season as they defeated the Florida Tech Panthers by
a score of 14-10. The win advanced the Tars to a 13-1 overall
mark, as well kept them undefeated in SSC play with a record of
3-0.
Tyler Thomas led the team in goals with a hat trick on the
night, while Kallie German led the team in assists and points with
two goals and two assists for a total of four points on the
evening. Paige Brock and Kris Coppolino each scored three points
apiece, with each netting two goals and adding an assist.
On the season, Ty Thomas leads the way with 38 goals and four
assists for a total of 42 points. Not far behind is German, who
has recorded 34 goals and nine assists for a team high of 43
points. Coppolino has earned 26 goals and seven assists on the
year for 33 points. Paige Brock is leading the team with 11
assists and has 14 goals for a total of 25 points on the
season.
German is also leading the Tars in ground ball with 24, followed
by goalie Malorie Olin with 23. Defensively, Lindsay Van Beck has
caused a team high of 16 turnovers, followed by German, Coppolino,
and Brenna Heaney with nine apiece. In goal, Olin has faced 215
shots, making 98 saves for a save percentage of .576 in 14 games.
The sophomore has allowed only 72 goals this season, averaging just
5.50 per game, and currently ranks third in Division II in goals
against average.
Dennis Short is in his ninth season at the helm of the Tars
women's lacrosse program. He has posted a 53-17 record over the
last four seasons, including a pair of trips to the NCAA National
Semifinals. He is assisted by Tom Kienle, Mike Tobin, as well as
former Tars standouts Chelsea Pinneke and Alley Rhinehart.
FLORIDA SOUTHERN AT A GLANCE: Florida Southern
enters into Thursday's matchup with an overall record of a 13-3,
and 3-0 in SSC. The Mocs, who have appeared on the IWLCA Division
II Top 20 since the beginning of the season, checked in at sixth
this week.
Last time out on the game field, the Mocs defeated SSC opponent
Saint Leo by a score of 15-2 on Tuesday, April 19 at Bryant
Stadium.
Leading the Mocs in goals so far this season is junior Kendall
Kerge, who has 36 goals and two assists for a total of 48 points.
Meghan O'Brien leads the team in assists with 27 and has 22 goals
on the season for a total of 49 points. Not far behind is Emily
Santoli with 22 assists and 28 goals for a team high of 50
points.
Gabby Barowski leads the team in ground balls with 44, with
Santoli not far behind with 39. Defensively, Rachel Griffith holds
on team best 26 caused turnovers, while Parrisa Sakinejad has
25.
Taylor Gillis and Paige Brodbeck have shared playing time in the
cage this season. Gillis has seen a total of 623 minutes between
the pipes for the Mocs, making 64 saves, and holds a
goals-against-average of 6.26 per game. Brodbeck has seen a total
of 339 minutes between the pipes, making 36 saves, and holds a
goals-against-average of 7.95 per game.
Kara Reber enters into her fifth season as the head coach of the
women's lacrosse program at Florida Southern. Reber holds a record
of 58-14 in her four seasons as head coach of the Moccasins. She
led Florida Southern to a successful inaugural season in the
Sunshine State Conference in 2014-15 season that saw the Moccasins
post a 4-0 record in SSC regular season action. She is assisted by
Lauren Bennett and Marissa Higgins.
SERIES: Rollins is 4-2 all-time against
Florida Southern. The last time out Rollins defeated the Mocs by a
score of 12-10 in overtime to claim the inaugural Sunshine State
Conference Tournament Championship.
