WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 2, 2016) - The No. 20 Rollins men's lacrosse team found themselves thwarted by a close-shooting Lynn University squad, falling to the Fighting Knights by a score of 17-4 on Saturday afternoon at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field.

The loss snaps a three-game win streak, and drops the Tars to a record of 7-4, and 1-1 in Sunshine State Conference action. The 18th-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights advance to a record of 8-2, and 1-1 in the SSC.

Clay Phillips and AJ Gogan each netted a team best two goals on the day, while Morgan Baker, Justin Diamond, and Jack Vonarb each scored once. Baker, Jeremy Slocumb, and Greg Taicher each tallied an assist as the Tars put a total of 10 points on the board.

Andrew Matthews led the Tars on faceoff attempts, winning 7-of-15 and picking up a team high six ground balls. The long stick middie also caused one turnover for the Tars.

The Fighting Knights were led by both Austin Jerhoff and Ryan Madigan, who each netted a hat trick on the afternoon. Jerhoff added two assists for a game high five points, while Mikey Urso was close behind with four as he notched two goals and two assists. In all, nine Lynn players contributed to the Fighting Knights' 23 points.

After 15 minutes of action, the Tars found themselves holding onto a 2-1 lead entering into the second period. However, a strong second quarter sealed the deal for the Fighting Knights as they outscored the Tars 6-1 to enter into halftime with a 7-3 lead.

Lynn went on to outscore the Tars by a final tally of 7-4 throughout the final two quarters, closing out the conference matchup with a final score of 14-7.

In goal for the Tars, Jake Hogan saw a total of 38:12 minutes, allowing 10 goals and earning three saves. William Doyle closed out the contest for the final 21:48 minutes, earning three saves while allowing four goals.

Lynn saw goalie Pat Brothers play the entire 60 minutes, earning 14 saves and allowing just seven shots go by as he faced 34 shots and 21 shots on goal from Rollins.

The Rollins men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, April 9, when they travel to Lakeland, Fla. to take on the Florida Southern Moccasins in Sunshine State Conference action.
