Rollins men's lacrosse looks to get back on track this weekend on
the road against Sunshine State Conference foe, Florida Southern.
The Tars take on the Mocs on Saturday at 12 p.m. Fans that can't

ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Last time out, the Tars
fell to the 18th-ranked Lynn University Fighting Knights
at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field by a score of
14-7. The loss broke a three-game win streak and dropped the Tars
to 7-4 and 1-1 in SSC action.
Clay
Phillips and AJ Gogan each had two goals on the day, while Morgan
Baker, Justin
Diamond, and Jack
Vonarb each netted one. Baker, Jeremy
Slocumb, and Greg
Taicher each contributed one assist to put 10 points on the
board for the Tars.
In goal for Rollins, Jake
Hogan saw 38:12 minutes, earning three saves. William
Doyle closed out the remaining 21:48 minutes of the game,
earning three saves while allowing four goals.
Entering Saturday's matchup, the Tars are averaging 10.36 goals
per game, taking 35.6 shots per game, and have recorded 49 assists
on 114 goals scored.
Baker leads the team with 22 goals and nine assists, followed
closely by Vonarb with 21 goals and seven assists.
Alex Pestos leads the Tars in face-off winning percentage. The
senior is 95-147 on face-off attempts for a percentage of .646 on
the season. He also has picked up a team-high 68 ground balls.
Defensively for the Tars, Connor
McClellan has caused a total of 12 turnovers on the season. In
goal, Jake
Hogan has started all 11 games, posting a save percentage of
.473 and a total of 79 saves on the season.
Chris
Lewis became the third head coach in Rollins men's lacrosse
history on June 26, 2015 after serving as the Interim Head Coach
for the final two months of the 2015 season. The 2015-16 school
year will be Lewis' fifth year at Rollins.
FLORIDA SOUTHERN AT A GLANCE: Last time out,
the Mocs saw a three-game win streak snapped by No. 3 Tampa at the
Naimoli Athletic Complex in Tampa, Fla. The Mocs fell to the
Spartans by a score of 22-7, dropping them to 8-6 overall and 1-1
in the SSC.
Florida Southern was led by Kyle McLaughlin with two goals,
while Tyler Kopen and Cody Dyer each recorded one goal and one
assists for a total of two points. Also scoring goals for the Mocs
were Dalton Simpson, Zeke Wilson, and Blaine Preston.
In goal, Matt Lalli collected four saves in 35 minutes for the
Mocs, while Austin Suarez, Daniel Rivas, and Cody Christie combined
to play the final 25 minutes, recording two saves.
Lucas Claude leads the scoring effort for the Mocs with 30 goals
and 22 assists for a total of 52 points on the season. He is
followed by Kopen with 31 goals and 12 assists for 43 points.
Defensively, Austen Lison leads the team with 21 caused
turnovers. In goal, Matt Lalli has started all 14 contests, posting
a save percentage of .549 for a total of 151 saves.
Marty Ward is in his sixth season as head coach of the men's
lacrosse program at Florida Southern College. Ward holds an overall
record of 50-39 in his six-plus seasons at the helm.
SERIES: Rollins is 1-7 all-time against Florida
Southern with the win coming from the 2013 season by a score of
10-7.
