WINTER PARK, Fla.. (March 5, 2015) - Brian
Auerbach threw six innings allowing no runs and one hit,
lowering his earned run average to 1.99 as Rollins defeated Saint
Rose 14-1 Thursday afternoon.
Rollins (10-9) picks up their fifth win during Baseball Week and
tenth win overall on the season.
Auerbach moves to 2-0 on the season. Kyle
Hintz and Josh
Stewart each made their first appearances out of the bullpen
this season, allowing one hit in two innings between the two.
Blake
Hutton finished the day 3-for-3 while Skip Kovar, Christian
Coburn, Philip
Burket and Chris Corbett each had two hits on the day. Zach
Persky and Alex
Miller each added a hit to the Rollins 13 total. Burket and
Corbett had three rbi's while Coburn and Hutton each scored three
times. As a team, the Tars swiped seven bases with Coburn taking
his 14th stolen base this season. Burket added his eighth double
and second triple this season.
Rollins struck in the first inning as Carlos
Garmendia hit a sacrifice fly scoring Coburn. Burket followed
with a triple scoring Peter
Nicoletto as the Tars led 2-0.
The Tars added two more runs in the third inning as Corbett
singled to left field scoring Hutton and Burket. Rollins led 4-0
entering the fourth inning.
In the fourth inning, Rollins added five runs on five hits as
the Tars sent all nine batters to the plate and led 9-0 entering
the fifth.
Skip Kovar began the fifth with a single to center field. Coburn
walked and reached home on a wild pitch as Garmendia struck out
swinging.
In the sixth, Teddy
Meissner came in and hit a sacrifice fly scoring Hutton as the
Tars led 11-0 entering the seventh.
Kovar began the seventh with a hit by pitch. Michael
Dolan then was hit by a pitch as Alex
Miller came in and singled to left field scoring Kovar. Hutton
came to the plate and singled to left field scoring Dolan. Miller
scored on a wild pitch bringing the Tars lead to 14-0.
Saint Rose finally answered with one run on two hits the eighth
inning, but Rollins shut the door and picked up their second
straight 14-run performance against Saint Rose winning 14-1.
Rollins continues the week against Assumption Friday at 2:30
p.m.
