PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 7, 2014) - Rollins led through six innings before the fourth-ranked West Florida Argos were able to rally and score six runs to defeat the Tars 10-5 Friday night at Jim Spooner Field for the McDonald Fleming Moorhead Law Firm Opening Weekend.

Tars starter Isaiah Sakany had a rough start as he allowed three Argos run in the opening frame. Sakany finally settled and held UWF scoreless until the fourth inning after Garrett Flynn scored on a wild pitch. Sakany was then pulled and received the no decision.

After a scoreless first inning for the Tars, Rollins put up four runs in the second inning for a one-run advantage over the Argos. Designated hitter Matt Hendricks got the ball rolling as he led off with a base hit to right. With a Hunter Mayfield walk, followed by a Bryan Perlmutter double, Hendricks and Mayfield were able to score to put the Tars on the board.

Peter Nicoletto and Bryan Perlmutter scored the Tars' next two runs on a Zach Persky hit and a UWF throwing error.

In the top of the sixth, Hunter Mayfield scored his second run of the night on a RBI single by Evan Rivera to give the Tars a 5-4 lead. Mayfield finished the night 2-for-3 with a double and stolen base.

No. 4 West Florida rallied in the home half of the seventh to tie the score at 5-5. In the bottom eighth, UWF scored five runs on the Tars to win 10-5. The Argos out-hit Rollins 9-8 and committed one less error (2-1).

Benny Ely (0-1) was tagged with the loss for Rollins in one inning of work as he gave up all five runs in the eighth. UWF's Walker O'Connor earned the win in 5.0 innings on the bump. He fanned a game-high five, allowed no walks and scattered one hit.

Game 2 of the three-game series will continue on Saturday, Feb. 8 with first pitch slated for 2 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
