NO. 14 ROLLINS (6-1) AT A GLANCE: The Tars are
off to a fast start to the season and look to keep the momentum
rolling into the upcoming holiday break. After five-straight wins
to start the year, Rollins suffered its only setback to now
second-ranked Lewis in the championship game of the Tars
Thanksgiving Tournament.
Rollins was last in action on December 4, beating Lynn 69-52 on
the road to start Sunshine State Conference play. Ashley Losch led
the way with 16 points and eight rebounds while Emmalee Schill put
up 12 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Jasmine Stone pumped in a
career-high 10 points off the bench. The Tars, one of the top
rebounding teams in Division II, outrebounded the Fighting Knights
44-29.
Schill leads the season box score with 14 points a night while
also hauling in 7.3 rebounds a game. Losch is averaging 15 points
over the last three games and is putting up 11.7 a night on the
season. She is also grabbing 7.1 rebounds a game after racking up
17 against Lewis. Cassidy Bailey is putting up 6.9 points a game
off the bench while Julia Ingler and Jen Farrell are each getting
6.3 a night.
Glenn Wilkes Jr. (Stetson '81) is in his 29th year leading the
Tars and owns a career record of 634-207. He is the
eighth-winningest active coach in Division II and has the fourth
most victories. All-time in Division II, Wilkes ranks as the 13th
winningest and ninth in total victories.
CONCORD (3-3) AT A GLANCE: The Mountain Lions
come to Winter Park on a three-game winning streak and stand at 3-3
on the year. The trip to Rollins is part of an eight-game road
swing to start the year.
Concord's last time out was a 77-70 win over West Virginia
Wesleyan on Dec. 7. Danielle Catron led four players in double
figures with 16 points. Melea Smith put up 15 points while
Jacqueline Kestner tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Kestner averages a double-double on the year with 15.5 points
and 10.5 rebounds a game. Smith adds 13.5 points a night while
Kylie Molisee puts up 12.2 points and 10.5 boards a game. Concord's
offense is averaging 67.8 points a game while they give up 71.2 a
night on the other end.
THE SERIES: Monday will be the first meeting
between the Tars and Mountain Lions. Rollins has also not faced
either of its potential consolation/championship opponent in
Tarleton State or UIndy.
NEXT UP FOR ROLLINS: Rollins will be back in
action on Saturday, Jan. 3, traveling to Palm Beach Atlantic.
