Ingler matched her career-high and the Tars defense was stout
as 14th-ranked Rollins beat Concord 62-45 Monday to open the
Rollins Invitational Tournament.
The Tars (7-1) will next meet the University of Indianapolis in
the championship game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16 in Winter
Park.
Ingler scored 17 points, shooting 5-of-9 with four 3-pointers
and hitting three free throws, all in 18 minutes. She also hauled
in four offensive rebounds and ended the night with five total. Emmalee
Schill posted nine points and seven rebounds while Ashley
Losch added eight points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
Melea Smith provided the offense for Concord (3-4), putting up
22 points to go along with five rebounds. Jacqueline Kestner
tallied eight points and eight rebounds while Kylie Molisee grabbed
a game-high 13 boards.
Rollins held Concord without a point for the first 9:39 and
didn't allow a field goal until nearly 10 minutes into the game. A
Schill 3-pointer at the nine-minute mark put the Tars up 21-4 and a
Cassidy
Bailey triple three minutes later gave Rollins a 26-4
advantage.
Lindsey Overby hit a runner at the buzzer for the Mountain Lions
and cut Rollins halftime lead to 33-18.
Concord twice got to within 13 early in the second half but
couldn't get any closer. The Mountain Lions were down 55-38 with
5:17 to play before four quick points and three defensive stops by
Rollins shut the door on Concord.
Rollins shot 33 percent (22-66) from the field and held Concord
to 14-of-66 from the field (21 percent). The Tars were their usual
selves on the glass, outrebounding the Mountain Lions 52-47.
UIndy got past Tarleton State 57-51 in the second game of the
day to set up the championship game against Rollins. Tip off is set
