Ingler led 11 different players in the scoring column as
12th-ranked Rollins beat Palm Beach Atlantic 58-42
Saturday afternoon.
The win is the Tars third straight and moves their record to 9-1
on the season. PBA drops to 5-10 as Rollins has held each of its
last three opponents under 50 points.
Ingler posted 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the 3-point
line. She also had two rebounds and four steals. Ashley
Losch added seven points and seven rebounds with Emmalee
Schill and Jen
Farrell also each scoring seven.
Nkiru Anyagaligbo scored 10 points to lead the Sailfish with
Natalie Wood hauling in a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Tars overcame a tough shooting night, hitting just 26
percent (19-71) from the floor, including a 7-of-29 mark from
beyond the arc. PBA was 17-of-53 (32 percent) from the floor and
outrebounded Rollins 47-46. The Tars defense forced 33 'Fish
turnovers.
The pace was sluggish to start with the score knotted at 13
after the first seven minutes of play. Emily
Raymer scored a layup a minute later to give the Tars the lead,
15-13.
Rollins led 21-19 with five minutes left in the half and ended
the frame on a 6-0 run to hold a 27-19 advantage at the break. Jacquar
Westbrooks put a cap on the offensive outburst with a deep
3-pointer at the 1:30 mark.
The Tars stayed hot to start the second and ran out to a 47-22
lead with 10 minutes to play. The Sailfish cut the lead to 12 late
in the game, but the Rollins converted at the free throw line in
crunch time.
All-time, Rollins is now 19-0 against Palm Beach Atlantic, a
future member of the Sunshine State Conference.
