FLORENCE, Ala. (September 13, 2013) - Three
Tars in double-figure kills led the way, as Rollins remains
undefeated on the season with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-15)
victory over Northwood in the opening match of the North Alabama
Classic.
Senior Camille
Indest registered a season-best 18 kills, to go with a .552
hitting percentage, five digs and three blocks. Freshman Ruth
Harrington added 13 kills with seven digs while Jessica
Wilson recorded 10 kills and a career-high nine blocks.
In a rematch from last season, the Tars (5-0) stepped up their
game as they won the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-14.
The first set went back-and-forth with Rollins taking a lead after
a 19-all tie on a block by Jessica
Wilson and Aroon
Duncanson. Rollins then scored four straight points for a
23-19 lead on a kill by Ruth
Harrington. Another kill by Harrington secured the first set
win for the Tars.
Rollins cruised by the Timberwolves in the second set, winning
25-14. The Tars started off with seven straight points before NU
scored their first point on a kill by Juliia Pakhomenko. She
finished the day with a team-best 16 kills.
The Tars were unable to keep the momentum flowing in the third
set and dropped a 25-23 decision. The start of the set was close
but Northwood (2-3) gained some confidence and were able to extend
their lead on the Tars on a kill by Pakhomenko. Rollins managed to
come within two at the 23-21 mark on a kill by Camille
Indest.
The fourth set was another close one for both teams but after a
6-all tie on a block solo by Indest, Rollins was able to push
through for the win. Harrington secured the win for the Tars her
13th kill of the match.
Rollins will finish out the day with a 9 p.m. ET match against
