LAKELAND, Fla. (May 9, 2013) - Rollins managed to even the score in the top of the sixth but allowed two runs to score after dropping a 4-2 decision to the Florida Southern Moccasins Thursday afternoon at Historic Henley Field.

Rollins now falls to 23-22-1 on the year and 8-13-1 in the Sunshine State Conference while FSC improves to 17-27 overall and 9-13 in the league.

The Tars registered three hits in the loss with Brian Lattanzi, Matt Hendricks and Hunter Mayfield each picking up a base knock.

Florida Southern kept the Tars off the base paths through four innings until Hendricks led off the fifth with a leadoff double. Mayfield singled up the middle, scoring Hendricks for the first run of the game and cutting the Mocs lead down to 2-1.

In the top of the sixth, Lattanzi drove in Yuta Okazaki for the tying run after the shortstop led off the inning with a walk.

Florida Southern starter Clay Chapman, who went the distance pitching the complete game, kept Rollins off the board in the final three innings of play. The Mocs took the lead in the home half of the sixth on a triple steal and added an insurance run in the seventh, 4-2.

Chapman struck out a game-high seven and walked two, while scattering three and allowing two runs.

Anthony Figliolia was tagged with the loss in 6.2 innings of work. He allowed four runs on five hits and struck out six.

The Tars will complete the 2013 season on Friday, May 10 with a doubleheader beginning at 1p.m. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
